CSA, Security Agencies Bust Cybercrime Centres in Greater Accra
The Cyber Security Authority (CSA), in a joint operation with security agencies between 24th and 25th September 2026, has uncovered suspected cybercrime centres in parts of Greater Accra between 25, leading to the arrest of eight suspects and the rescue of 120 people who have been trafficked and exploited for online fraud activities.
The operation followed intelligence received on August 26, 2026, indicating that several apartments at Ubuntu Haven Estate in Kpone Katamanso, Franko Estate in Ga North, and other locations in Ga West were being used as bases for organised cybercrime, including romance scams.
Investigators said the victims were found operating laptops and mobile phones when the joint team searched the suspected centres. Items seized in the operation included 136 assorted mobile phones, 130 laptops, internet connection devices, four motor vehicles and other digital equipment.
The search team also recovered high-value items, including necklaces and ten Nigerian passports, and one of the seized vehicles suspected to have been stolen from Canada.
Authorities have successfully repatriated the rescued victims, identified as Nigerians, back to Nigeria.
The operation forms part of a broader effort by the CSA, the National Crime Agency (NCA) of the United Kingdom, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria (EFCC), the Joint Case Team on Cybercrime (JCTC), Ghana’s National Security Secretariat, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Immigration Service, the Office of the Attorney-General and other national agencies to dismantle organised online fraud networks and clamp down on trafficking-linked cybercrime.
Investigations into the suspects and the seized digital devices are ongoing.
