CSA LAUNCHES INDUSTRY FORUM TO STRENGTHEN NATIONAL CYBERSECURITY
The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) in a move to bolster cybersecurity and safeguard Ghana's digital ecosystem has launched the cybersecurity industry forum to bring together industry stakeholders to discuss matters of common interest in accordance with the Cybersecurity Act 2020 (Act 1038).
The event held recently in Accra in collaboration with key industry groups including the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, Ghana Association of Banks, Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana, ISACA Ghana Chapter, and ISC2 Ghana, brought together professionals from cybersecurity agencies, telecommunications, information security agencies, and the judiciary.
Speaking at the event, the Minister for Communication and Digitalisation, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful noted that the industry forum facilitated collaboration among stakeholders, including government, private sector, and civil society, fostering a united front against cyber threats.
She added that it provided a platform for sharing best practices, strategies, and insights on cybersecurity, helping organisations to enhance their defences.
The Director-General of the CSA, Dr Antwi-Boasiako, intimated that the Forum’s ability to create industry codes as part of its mandate was a powerful tool that could guide industry practices and promote self-regulation. He added that the Forum would serve as the starting point of a long-term partnership that would drive policy, standards, innovations, and technological advancements.
The Chairman of the facilitating committee on the establishment of the Industry Forum, Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, applauded the CSA’s commitment to incorporating private sector expertise into the governance structure and urged industry members to actively participate in the forum to ensure its vitality.
As part of the event, the Authority also inaugurated and swore in 18 Independent Assessors comprised of a group of top-tier accredited cybersecurity professionals in the country who have been mandated to support the Authority’s regulatory mandate.
The Independent Assesors have the responsibility to among other things, support the CSA in its execution of relevant regulatory activities including conducting cybersecurity audits as well as assisting the CSA in research and development.
