CSA GHANA CHAMPIONS CYBER HYGIENE DRIVE AT KPANDO AND HO WEST MINICIPAL AHEAD OF NCSAM 2025

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) of Ghana has taken significant steps to enhance cyber hygiene awareness at the Kpando and Ho West Municipal Assemblies in preparation for National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2025.

This initiative brought together key stakeholders from academia, national security, the banking sector, and the health sector to foster collaboration and strengthen cybersecurity practices at the local level.

Hon. Killian Donkor, the Kpando Municipal Chief Executive, and the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Profer Francis Dusey, commended the Sector Minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, and the Acting Director-General of CSA, Mr Divine Selease Agbeti, for their leadership in advancing cyber hygiene awareness in municipal and district assemblies. They further advocated increased collaboration between the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to restructure and develop educational programmes across all levels, from basic through tertiary, to bolster the country’s cybersecurity capabilities.

In line with the awareness campaign, CSA representatives, including Madam Mary Bawa, Sir Eric Kafui Bansah, and Sir Godfred Kumi Kwakye, appeared on Akpini FM and Volta Star Radio to address rising online threats. Madam Bawa emphasised the increasing cases of sextortion in Ghana, highlighting that females are disproportionately affected. She urged parents to be vigilant in safeguarding their children’s digital safety.

Sir Godfred, on the other hand, highlighted mobile money fraud, which has become a growing concern for the people of Ghana. He stated that the public should be cautious about where they share their personal details and government-issued ID cards. He explained that online perpetrators can use some personal information to run social engineering attacks, which often result in these mobile money scams or fraud. These incidents are on the rise, causing substantial financial losses.

The CSA also conducted targeted cyber hygiene training at Kpando Senior High School and Kpando Technical Institute, educating 2,704 students on protecting their online presence and cultivating a positive digital footprint.

Mr Charles Apraku, Headmaster of Kpando Senior High School, expressed his gratitude to the CSA for the impactful training. He encouraged students to engage seriously with the initiative and committed to supporting further outreach efforts to other senior high schools within the Volta Region.

Through these comprehensive efforts, the CSA is reinforcing the importance of cyber hygiene and education as crucial elements in securing Ghana’s digital future.
